“ The achievement of justice in the Local Court is affected by factors including the high volume of cases and the pressure to plead guilty. The focus on efficiency means that justice is often compromised.”

1. What is the effect on people appearing before the court, of  the high volume of cases and the pressure to plead guilty?

2. Discuss the effect on one vulnerable group ie one group in the community who already suffer disadvantage. 

Why do these factors affect this group in particular? What is the effect on the achievement of justice?
